Follow us

We would love to go on a vacation with the boys this summer, but with Micah's work schedule that just isn't feasible. So, along with many of you, we will be having a 'Staycation'. Luckily we can be tourists in the beautiful Black Hills all summer long. So follow us on our summer adventures!

We started out this past weekend. We visited Dinosaur Park and the ever popular Reptile Gardens. Spencer enjoyed both - but liked Reptile Gardens the most. Mason surprised us with his excitement - mostly with the alligators.

Here are some photos from our weekend. Oh and Micah wanted me to add that Spencer attempted to kick one of the large tortoises in the neck - don't worry, I stopped him. (Micah was too busy laughing....sound familiar sister-in-laws?). We don't think he realized they were real at first but once he did he was very nice to the little old man reptiles.

They said this tortoise is approx 120 years old!

NFL bound

Some call him the next big thing: a future NFL player trapped in a pint-sized body. He can't walk yet, but he can move with that football! Watch this video clip and decide for yourself. And just think - those of you lucky enough to know Mason can say 'I knew him when....' Thanks to big brother Spencer for assisting with this sports highlight. (FYI - the video is a bit dark but I didn't have the time to make the adjustments so I figure it's not that big of deal..right?).

Oh Masey...

AKA Mason. He is coming up on his first birthday next month (can you believe it?) and his little personality is exploding! He is such a funny little boy with a little bit of a naughty streak - who he inherited that from is up for debate - I'll weigh in with his dad but he may have another opinion:)

Anyway, lately he has been cracking us up more than ever with his antics. He makes a funny growling sound, he attempts to drink from his cup without using his hands and he zooms away from us really fast when we're trying to stop him from doing something naughty. One of the funniest things is that he pecks at finger foods (literally, like a chicken, head down). Does he actually think he is a chicken? Is he trying to say 'look ma, no hands!' or is he simply entertaining us? We'll go with the latter because the more he does it the harder Spencer laughs - and let's be honest, at this age there's no one more important to impress than your big brother.

Gone fishin'

Spencer had his first fishing outing last weekend and LOVED it. Micah took him 'shopping' for his first fishing pole and as you can see it is the coolest! They didn't catch anything but had a lot of fun anyway. Here are some photos of the fishermen:

Of course I don't have any of Mason fishing (yet) so here is a photo of him with his favorite teether - a plastic hot dog - which looks like a baby cigar! The other is of him pulling up to watch TV. He now knows how to turn the TV on and off and on and off and ... you get the picture.

Moving

That's it...we're moving. Yesterday it was 83 degrees, today it is snowing. I can't handle it! I should be working for the Weather Channel and getting paid to talk about the SD weather this much!

Okay, freakout over.

We're not really moving.

April showers bring...worms!

"Me no like worms" or so Spencer says. (Insert Spencer going to Cabella's with Micah recently and asking to revisit the worms 5 times). But it's finally been rainy which has given the boys a chance to go outside and play in the rain...and of course hunt for worms. It took us awhile but we found quite a few. Don't worry squeamish readers, I am not posting any worm photos, just a few of the boys in their 'rain gear.' We had a lot of fun and got really muddy. When it was time to come inside we were locked out...uh-oh! Thankfully Spencer knows how to open the porch door so we boosted him inside a window into the enclosed porch and had him open the door. So the moral of the story is: we think Spencer secretly does like worms and just isn't ready for the world to know it yet. We'll keep you posted.
