You know you're getting older when...

You know you're getting older when you talk about the weather, right? I mean really, no one talks about it when they're 12. Well, so be it - I'm old. I am so sick of the cold weather I can't stand it! The other day it was super cold....so cold in fact that Phoenix was going to be 70 degrees warmer for the day! Seriously? Yes, seriously...70 degrees difference. Oh how it made us miss Arizona! Thank goodness Spring is on the horizon. All of you stuck in the cold know what I am talking about. And those of you that are in the warm weather can rub it in now, but it'll be super hot for you real soon and you'll be the ones envying us!

Anyways... I thought I would post a few new photos of the boys. We finally decided to get their photos taken at a 'place' and Spencer was not having it...he took a few with Mason but would not take any by himself...with the exception of two and they were super posey (is that even a word?). You would have thought someone told him to pose that way, but no, he came up with it all on his own.

Also a photo from St. Patrick's Day. We love St. Patrick's day at our house and so we dressed in green (of course), danced to Irish music and made shamrock shaped cookies. (And key lime pie for micah...no, not very Irish but green).

Mason is finally crawling around...not very fast yet but he's happy to be getting around. And Spencer? Well, he can count to 7. That's right...our two year old can count to 7...amazing, I know. Enjoy the photos!

Unwanted visitor

So I realize I haven't posted in awhile. Our monitor died and we had to get a new one...yada, yada, yada. So is anyone the least bit curious about the title of this entry? Well, if so, read on.

Today I put both of the boys down for their nap and was sitting down looking through some papers - about half an hour later the doorbell rang 3 times. I was not expecting anyone so I walked up towards the enclosed porch and looked out this picture window we have - not knowing the person I thought...'I am not answering that.' Then the 'visitor' became really persistent and rang the doorbell a whole lotta times...then I started to get a little anxious. The 'visitor' then opened our front door and entered our enclosed porch, at which point he started to open our main door!!! What the??? Right? All this time I had been holding Milo (our dog who barks at all strangers) back. So then I yelled at the man to get out of our house and I had to say it twice....hello, is this thing working? Did you not hear me the first time? That's what I was really thinking.

So I was all ready to unleash Milo on him when he decided to leave. I immediately called 911. I gave them the entire description of the man as he was still exiting our yard. Many minutes after I spoke with dispatch an officer called and spoke with me while he was 'on his way' to attempt to locate the 'visitor.' For those of you familiar with Rapid you know it's not that big and PLUS we are right off the mainest main road in town! He asked me if the man was 'drunk'...yeah, I really didn't get a chance to discuss that with him becuase I was a little busy FREAKING OUT! So the officer said if he could locate him he would take him to detox. Uh, hello...a strange man just entered my house and that's all I get? I mean seriously. Needless to say my sources tell me they never did locate him and the jerk caused this chaotic situation that interrupted the boys naps and they were not happy campers the remainder of the afternoon. Thanks a lot 'unwanted visitor'.

Now I am sure this 'unwanted visitor' was just some random thing that happened...but it really made me think of what I would do if the situation ever presented itself again. Food for thought. One thing I know forsure is that I am sooo happy to have our big-loud-intimidating-barker-sidekick Milo! Anyhow, thanks for letting me vent. I promise my next post will be much more light!

How time flies....

The never-ending question in our household...why can't babies be babies for a little bit longer? It all goes by sooo fast! Spencer seems like he aged 6 months overnight. He just looks so darn big! Lately he is our little parrot...repeating everything (and I mean everything) he hears. He is still story telling and the stories become more and more interesting with each tell. And Mason...we can't believe he is almost 8 months old! How is that possible? His latest accomplishments include saying 'dada' in a really low voice...definitely the lowest baby voice we've ever heard (my mom said he sounds like a baritone baby). AND he is getting ready to crawl! He is pushing up and rocking back and forth - it will be anyday now. It is all super exciting but just going by so fast.

Can't we slow it down just a little bit???

A visitor and some photos....

Today we had a surprise visitor all the way from Texas...Uncle Jordan! Even though I knew it was him it took my brain a couple of minutes to catch up because I couldn't figure out why he would be in South Dakota (he is here for work). It was the first time the boys were able to meet him and they both took to him right away...Spence in fact was a little jealous of Uncle Jordan giving Mason any of his attention. We had a nice visit and we are really excited that another member of the Odahlen clan was able to meet Mason!

And of course I thought I better post some photos. Spence 'cooking' for the Superbowl game, the boys being bummed their team wasn't playing in the big game and thus opting for some additional entertainment, Mason showing off two of his four teeth (they're there....zoom in) and our pup Milo (I figured I better give him some blog fame).

A Storyteller, a Noise-maker, a Two-timer and a Potential facebook junkie

A storyteller: that would be Spencer. He has been telling stories for quite awhile now. Early on he would mostly tell the story with a series of actions - kind of like a mime (I know scary clown reference) and a few words. Now that his vocabulary is expanding he uses more words, but still includes the actions. His current story is as follows: "Me, stepped on crab. No shoes on. Crab dead. Mama help!" The stories are hilarious and keep us very entertained.

A noise-maker: that would be Mason. Of course he does the usual screeching sounds but lately he has added making a knocking sound with his tongue and a clicking sound with his mouth to his repertoire. And if anyone does these sounds in return, he cracks up. It's WAY better than the teeth grinding thing.

A two-timer: that would be Micah - because he's working two jobs of course! When he's not working at one them he is continually looking for a new one. So if anyone has any connections, suggestions, jobs to offer him, etc....please let us know!

A potential facebook junkie: Last but not least, that would be me. After some weird computer thing (don't ask me, I just work here) and some much needed nudging (thanks BB) I finally broke down and joined the facebook world. The reason it has taken me so long was two fold - 1. I knew I would be a bit of a slacker and would take forever to update it, load photos etc. and 2. that I could potentially become hooked. Those of you on facebook know what I mean....constant updates on your 'friends', continual invites to be someone's 'friend'....always the potential to seek out new 'friends' and don't get me started on the games....literally, don't get me started on the games or I will never be off of the computer!

Well, we're just gearing up here for Superbowl Sunday - soooo happy Micah will have the entire day off to watch it with us!
