Moving

That's it...we're moving. Yesterday it was 83 degrees, today it is snowing. I can't handle it! I should be working for the Weather Channel and getting paid to talk about the SD weather this much!

Okay, freakout over.

We're not really moving.

April showers bring...worms!

"Me no like worms" or so Spencer says. (Insert Spencer going to Cabella's with Micah recently and asking to revisit the worms 5 times). But it's finally been rainy which has given the boys a chance to go outside and play in the rain...and of course hunt for worms. It took us awhile but we found quite a few. Don't worry squeamish readers, I am not posting any worm photos, just a few of the boys in their 'rain gear.' We had a lot of fun and got really muddy. When it was time to come inside we were locked out...uh-oh! Thankfully Spencer knows how to open the porch door so we boosted him inside a window into the enclosed porch and had him open the door. So the moral of the story is: we think Spencer secretly does like worms and just isn't ready for the world to know it yet. We'll keep you posted.

Not one, not two, but three!

That's right, three. Three blizzards in less than two weeks - crazy right? We thought Spring was on it's way but it is taking longer than expected. After lots of frustration from the start of the third blizzard yesterday (Micah getting stuck on the freeway, having to rescue him, etc) we decided to make the best of it today and go out and play in the snow with the boys. We went sledding...Mason loved it, Spence preferred to run up and down the hill. We finally had success at making a snowman (previously Spencer would kick them down before we could complete them). But now we are really ready for the snow to leave and we will be super happy if we don't see it again for another 6 months or so. Here is a photo of Mason's first sledding experience:

You know you're getting older when...

You know you're getting older when you talk about the weather, right? I mean really, no one talks about it when they're 12. Well, so be it - I'm old. I am so sick of the cold weather I can't stand it! The other day it was super cold....so cold in fact that Phoenix was going to be 70 degrees warmer for the day! Seriously? Yes, seriously...70 degrees difference. Oh how it made us miss Arizona! Thank goodness Spring is on the horizon. All of you stuck in the cold know what I am talking about. And those of you that are in the warm weather can rub it in now, but it'll be super hot for you real soon and you'll be the ones envying us!

Anyways... I thought I would post a few new photos of the boys. We finally decided to get their photos taken at a 'place' and Spencer was not having it...he took a few with Mason but would not take any by himself...with the exception of two and they were super posey (is that even a word?). You would have thought someone told him to pose that way, but no, he came up with it all on his own.

Also a photo from St. Patrick's Day. We love St. Patrick's day at our house and so we dressed in green (of course), danced to Irish music and made shamrock shaped cookies. (And key lime pie for micah...no, not very Irish but green).

Mason is finally crawling around...not very fast yet but he's happy to be getting around. And Spencer? Well, he can count to 7. That's right...our two year old can count to 7...amazing, I know. Enjoy the photos!

Unwanted visitor

So I realize I haven't posted in awhile. Our monitor died and we had to get a new one...yada, yada, yada. So is anyone the least bit curious about the title of this entry? Well, if so, read on.

Today I put both of the boys down for their nap and was sitting down looking through some papers - about half an hour later the doorbell rang 3 times. I was not expecting anyone so I walked up towards the enclosed porch and looked out this picture window we have - not knowing the person I thought...'I am not answering that.' Then the 'visitor' became really persistent and rang the doorbell a whole lotta times...then I started to get a little anxious. The 'visitor' then opened our front door and entered our enclosed porch, at which point he started to open our main door!!! What the??? Right? All this time I had been holding Milo (our dog who barks at all strangers) back. So then I yelled at the man to get out of our house and I had to say it twice....hello, is this thing working? Did you not hear me the first time? That's what I was really thinking.

So I was all ready to unleash Milo on him when he decided to leave. I immediately called 911. I gave them the entire description of the man as he was still exiting our yard. Many minutes after I spoke with dispatch an officer called and spoke with me while he was 'on his way' to attempt to locate the 'visitor.' For those of you familiar with Rapid you know it's not that big and PLUS we are right off the mainest main road in town! He asked me if the man was 'drunk'...yeah, I really didn't get a chance to discuss that with him becuase I was a little busy FREAKING OUT! So the officer said if he could locate him he would take him to detox. Uh, hello...a strange man just entered my house and that's all I get? I mean seriously. Needless to say my sources tell me they never did locate him and the jerk caused this chaotic situation that interrupted the boys naps and they were not happy campers the remainder of the afternoon. Thanks a lot 'unwanted visitor'.

Now I am sure this 'unwanted visitor' was just some random thing that happened...but it really made me think of what I would do if the situation ever presented itself again. Food for thought. One thing I know forsure is that I am sooo happy to have our big-loud-intimidating-barker-sidekick Milo! Anyhow, thanks for letting me vent. I promise my next post will be much more light!
